The next series Daredevil: Born Again will include Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio from the popular Daredevil series that was first shown on Netflix. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is experiencing major developments. Cox and D’Onofrio have, of course, since made appearances in the MCU, which helps pave the way for their comeback in the Born Again series. The possibility of other Daredevil and its spinoff characters joining the MCU in the future is also open as a result of this.
Ben Barnes, who portrayed the bad guy Jigsaw in The Punisher, would be delighted to come back if you ask him. Cox has said that this new series will be a reworking in certain aspects, so it’s possible that these may be different versions of the Daredevil characters. Barnes still has hope that Jigsaw may have the potential to make a comeback in the MCU even though he was killed off in The Punisher, perhaps as a darker version of the Jigsaw we first encountered in the earlier series.
Barnes recently discussed the subject with ComicBook.com. He added that perhaps this time, the show’s makers might have Billy Russo roughed up even more to produce a “more gnarly” version of Jigsaw. Barnes stated he especially likes portraying the villain, therefore he would be happy to return to that position if given a chance. His full comment is below:
“I loved playing that character. I loved kind of like discovering through the course of the show that we did on Netflix, discovering this kind of like abused child inside of this psychopathic, you know, unhinged, scarred marine body, and I loved how unpredictable he was.”
Barnes may be hoping for a call from Kevin Feige, but it doesn’t mean he is banking on it. The actor believes that since The Punisher brought Jigsaw’s character’s story to a satisfying conclusion, Marvel’s upper management may opt to leave this one alone.
“I think we sort of did tie up that story in a quite satisfying way. So I don’t hold out a lot of hope for that.”
Other Fan Favorites May Return in Daredevil: Born Again
The only cast members from Netflix’s Daredevil series that have been officially confirmed for Daredevil: Born Again are Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio. Whether or not Billy Russo shows up, it still means that we will see other people. Cox, for his part, is still unsure of what will happen but hopes to run into as many of his old friends as he can.
During an interview with Variety Cox said that he would be delighted to work with everyone on those shows.
“It was an absolute delight to work with everyone on all of those shows at Netflix, They were the beating heart of all of those shows. I would be honored and thrilled to work with any of them again. I would hate to single anyone out and I would hate to speculate because I just don’t know what the plan is going forward.”
Daredevil: Born Again will be released on Disney+ in early 2024.
