Although she had Steve (Joe Keery) as her love interest when the show first began, she later started dating Jonathan (Charlie Heaton). Nancy and Steve appear to be rekindling their romance in the fourth season of the show, which keeps the love triangle going into the fifth.

Because Nancy/Steve and Nancy/Jonathan are two of the most well-liked relationships in Stranger Things, the show’s various social media accounts frequently make reference to them. After the older teens teamed up in Stranger Things season 4 to look into Victor Creel, Robin and Nancy as a pair became a surprise hit. The friendship between the two very different young women received positive feedback from viewers, especially since Nancy has not had a close female friend in the show since Barb’s (Shannon Purser) untimely death and Steve is Robin’s closest confidant. Although the strong female friendship was a positive development for the science fiction show, some Stranger Things viewers detected a brewing romance between the two characters. This could be explained by the allure of opposites attracted and Robin’s admitted attraction to women.

Given that Steve/Nancy/Jonathan have been the primary love triangle for the older teen group throughout the series’ many seasons, it is unlikely that their relationship will become canon in Stranger Things season 5. Nancy and Robin have only recently interacted on screen, despite having chemistry, giving them much lesser of a foundation than the other couples. There will be a time jump in season 5, though, which might cause Nancy and Robin to become close and bond over their experiences in Stranger Things season 4 and later.

The Stranger Things writers account’s tweets also seem to leave room for the chance of a future love story for Nancy, as their initial holiday post about Steve and Nancy wished them “Happy holidays,” while the post about Jonathan and Nancy wished them “Happier holidays??” with no additional tweets highlighting the character’s potential “happiest holiday.” That, of course, says nothing about Nancy and Robin’s potential romance, which would undoubtedly be a surprise if it materialized in season 5. The best outcome for Stranger Things season 5 would be to focus on Nancy’s development as an independent character first, & her love life second, despite the ongoing fan interest in her romantic relationships.
