Hugh Jackman has described the training he undergoes to acquire the physique of the legendary superhero Wolverine in preparation for his eagerly anticipated return to the role in Deadpool 3, which is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For the first time since the moving Logan in 2017, Jackman will return as Wolverine. After years of rumors about whether the star would ever be tempted enough to dip his toe back into the MCU water, Wolverine’s engagement in Deadpool 3 was revealed by Jackman & series star Ryan Reynolds in a September 2022 video.
During a Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? interview with CNN anchor Chris Wallace? Jackman talked about his future plans for his career (via Collider). In order to prepare for the start of shooting for Deadpool 3, the adored Wolverine actor revealed his demanding training regimen. He stated that it would last six months straight and be his sole focus. He also jokingly warned all chickens that he is going to be hunting for them as long as he follows his diet and exercise regimen. Below, you can read what Hugh Jackman had to say about his exercise regimen:
“I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time. So we have six months from when I finish to when I started filming. And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months. And I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing is I’m fit. So I’m healthy. I have a good place to start. And apologies, chickens. Run a mile. Start running now because I’m coming for you.”
What We Know So Far About Deadpool 3

Many fans responded to the news of Hugh Jackman’s return as Wolverine with reserved excitement. With his portrayal of Wolverine in the 2000 film X-Men, the Australian actor is one of the founding figures of what would later develop into the contemporary superhero film genre. Jackman’s career has had its downs and ups but it ended on a high note with Logan, which is widely regarded as one of the best superhero movies in recent memory. Because of the impact of Logan, some fans were concerned that Jackman would return, ruining the impact of his death’s emotional impact.
Since then, it has been confirmed that Jackman’s participation will take place in the past rather than after the events of Logan. Jackman’s return was made possible by the MCU’s time travel because he insisted that he didn’t want to alter the Logan timeline. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are longtime friends from their roles in X-Men Origins: Wolverine and the director of Deadpool 3 Shawn Levy have spoken about the pair’s electric chemistry, hinting at amusing banter between both the actors now present in the MCU. This friendship played a part in Jackman’s decision to make a comeback. Levy has also hinted that the Wolverine and Deadpool characters will interact throughout the entire film, suggesting that Jackman’s role may be a major one.
Hugh Jackman’s period on Broadway will have to be temporarily put on hold while he prepares for his appearance in Deadpool 3 and the larger MCU. According to Levy, Deadpool 3 will begin filming in May 2023, so Jackman’s demanding training is already underway. The Deadpool franchise will not compromise on its R-rated appeal despite now being a part of the larger MCU, so viewers can anticipate a raunchy, profane, innuendo-filled team-up between Jackman’s Wolverine & Reynolds’ Deadpool characters. The release date for Deadpool 3 is already set for November 8, 2024.
