Jason Momoa addresses his message that fueled speculation about Zack Snyder’s possible return to the DC Universe. Since Man of Steel launched Warner Bros.’ comic book film franchise about a decade ago, a lot has transpired. Following multiple stops and starts, as well as projects moving forward and being canceled, none has been as contentious as Snyder’s departure, which remains a hot topic among the show’s fan base. As a result, when Momoa sent a perplexing message not long after new DCU administration was established, with James Gunn and Peter Safran becoming co-CEOs, many assumed the Aquaman star was hinting at Snyder taking on a fresh DC project under the new management. Momoa shared a video in which he described hearing “some of the most exciting news of my life.” He also confessed his feelings for someone he labeled “maestro,” which many assumed was Snyder.

Momoa, on the other hand, is now clarifying what he meant by his earlier message in an interview with CinemaBlend. Although he can’t go into detail on what’s happening behind the scenes, he explains that it has nothing to do with Snyder returning to DC, despite the fact that he couldn’t be happier with Gunn and Safran taking over the series. Momoa’s complete quote is below:

“Those two have no relation. It was two days of amazing news. That one is like beyond, that one trumps the DC one. No. No, no, no, no. You have to dig deeper. It’s the Holy Grail. And it’s different than the DC thing. And I really can’t say anything. That’s it.”

Will Zack Snyder Come back To The DC Universe?

Jason Momoa Explains Zack Snyder's Part In Cryptic New Project
Zack Snyder

Snyder had a rocky relationship with past Warner Bros. execs, which is no secret. From meddling with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to being replaced by Joss Whedon for Justice League, the filmmaker struggled with the economic side of working in the DC Universe. However, now that DC Movies is under new ownership and Gunn is more open to listening to fans, as well as having a peer connection with Snyder, his comeback to the DCU is more likely than ever. It’s worth remembering that Zack Snyder’s Justice League concluded with a foreshadowing of Justice League 2 and beyond.

It’s still unclear whether Snyder will comeback to the DCU. His mysterious post, as Momoa stated, has no connection to Snyder or the comic book franchise. However, given his tight friendship with Snyder, who was key in casting him as Arthur Curry, aka Aquaman, it’s reasonable to guess that he won’t mind seeing the filmmaker return to the universe that he helped launch. In any event, with Henry Cavill returning as Superman, another Justice League film seems more likely. Given the constant requests to Restore the SnyderVerse, Gunn and Safran may succumb to the petition; after all, the setup is already in place.

At this point, it’s wise to wait for formal word from DCU personnel before becoming invested in any franchise rumors. Gunn has remained tight-lipped about the universe’s future intentions, but given his time working with Kevin Feige, odds are he isn’t ready to drop any major news regarding the DCU’s future at this juncture. This includes whether or not Zack Snyder would be involved. At the very least, Jason Momoa has put the recent rumors to rest, albeit that is unlikely to dampen fans’ enthusiasm.
