Before Daenerys Targaryen managed to hatch three dragon eggs, everyone in Westeros believed dragons had gone extinct. The Targaryen civil war or known as the Dance of the Dragons played a massive role in wiping out many of the mightiest dragons from Westeros. In House of The Dragon, we might see how the House Targaryen almost destroys itself apart.
According to showrunners, we will see seventeen dragons throughout the show. each of these dragons will have a different look, size, and characteristics. so here are ten of the most powerful dragons we’ll see in the show.
10. Vermax
Vermax is a thriving dragon that grows every year and is ridden by Prince Jacaerys Velaryon, the son of Princess Rhaenyra and Laenor Velaryon. Vermax is big enough to ride by the time the Dance of the Dragons starts. This makes it possible for Jacaerys to represent his mother by flying north on a fruitful mission to deal with Cregan Stark, the Lord of Winterfell, Desmond Manderly, the Lord of White Harbor, and Jeyne Arryn, the Lady of the Eyrie.
09. Sheepstealer
Sheepstealer was a wild dragon during The Dance of the Dragons who enjoyed eating mutton. The color of Sheepstealer was a hideous “mud brown”. He was born when Jaehaerys II Targaryen was still a child, making him around 80 years old during the Targaryen Civil War. he killed every dragonseed who tried to tame him.
08. Dreamfyre
Dreamfyre was a mature she-dragon. Rhaena Targaryen, the sister of the Old King, once rode on her. Later, Helaena Targaryen daughter of King Viserys claimed Dreamfyre as her beloved mount.
07. Syrax
Syrax, whose scales took on a more yellow hue, Rhaenyra Targaryen rode Syrax since she was 7 years old. According to The Fall of King’s Landing, Syrax was so strong that she and Caraxes could easily subdue an entire city.
06. Sunfyre
Sunfyre is widely regarded as the most beautiful dragon to have ever existed in Westeros. Sunfyre had golden scales that shimmered in the sunlight, giving the impression that he was covered in gold and precious stones. Sunfyre was one of two dragons that fought mighty Meleys during the Dance of the Dragons. Aegon II, the eldest son of King Viserys was her rider.
05. Meleys
Meleys, also known as the Red Queen, was a formidable dragon that was ridden by none other than Princess Rhaenys Targaryen. Meleys, who fought in numerous battles but never lost, is described in legends as being beautiful and powerful. Because dragons continue to grow throughout their lives, this one did get quite big. Meleys were fiery-tempered creatures with pink wings and scarlet scales.
04. Vermithor
Vermithor was ridden by King Jaehaerys I Targaryen. He was a large, powerful older male dragon. he is the oldest dragon after Vhagar in House of the Dragon. He was almost a hundred years old at the time of the Dance of the Dragons. when Jacaerys Velaryon called for dragon riders, The dragon bowed his neck to Hugh Hammer, a blacksmith’s bastard, and was ridden by him during the Civil War.
03. Vhagar
During The War of Conquest, Aegon the Conqueror and his sisters employed a number of dragons, one of which was Vhagar. It was given the name of a god from ancient Valyria. Visenya Targaryen, Laena Velaryon, and Aemond Targaryen rode Vhagar. she was the largest and oldest dragon during the Dance of the Dragons. she has experience in countless battles. although, at Vhagar’s age, she had lost much of her strength.
02. Cannibal
Cannibal was also a wild dragon. he is known as one the most dangerous dragons in Westeros, some say he is even older than Balerion (Which might not be true). During the Dance of the Dragons, the Cannibal resided on Dragonstone. He would eat dragon eggs and dragons, both alive and dead. The Cannibal had the color of coal. Of all the wild dragons, he was the oldest and largest. during the Dance of the Dragons, none of the dragonseeds tried to claim the Cannibal due to his reputation.

Caraxes was a ruthless foe with a powerful appearance who was ridden by Prince Daemon Targaryen. This dragon was a seasoned fighter, almost entirely covered in red, known for his strength and intimidating presence. only a few could match Caraxes in battle.
