Elizabeth Olsen discusses whether or not the Scarlet Witch will appear in the WandaVision spinoff series Agatha: Coven of Chaos. While Phase 4 is coming to a conclusion, Marvel Studios has a slew of series and movies in the works for Phase 5 as they continue The Multiverse Saga. Agatha: Coven of Harkness, a WandaVision spinoff starring Kathryn Hahn in the role of Agatha Harkness, is one of the projects in the works at Marvel Studios.

Agatha’s journey will continue in her own show, which will be conceptualized as a dark comedy on Disney+, after serving as the major villain in the Scarlet Witch and Vision-centric series. Jac Schaeffer, the head writer of WandaVision, is expected to write Agatha: Coven of Chaos, which is presently scheduled to launch in late 2023. While narrative details are being kept under wraps, WandaVision’s Emma Caulfield will play Westview resident Sarah Proctor/Dottie Jones and is the only confirmed co-star thus far.

While Agatha: Coven of Chaos will focus on Hahn’s eponymous character, it is unclear whether Scarlet Witch will feature in the spinoff series. Olsen recently spoke with ET Online, who inquired if there had been any discussions regarding Wanda making a cameo appearance. Olsen hasn’t been approached as of yet, but the MCU actor is eager to appear on Agatha: Coven of Chaos, citing how much she enjoyed working with Hahn.

“I mean, no, but I would love to pop up. I love Kathryn, I don’t want to leave her side ever, I’m so grateful she’s here tonight. “We do think, ‘Gosh, we just got to do it again!’ We just had a really great time making that show, and with Paul, it was really a special time, so we would love to get the gang back.”

After Doctor Strange 2, Scarlet Witch’s MCU status remains unknown.

Will Scarlet Witch Make An Appearance In Agatha Christie's WandaVision Spinoff? Olsen Reacts
Wanda Maximoff

Wanda’s fate in the MCU is currently unknown, despite how much fun it would be to see Scarlet Witch and Agatha together again on Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Wanda appears to have sacrificed herself at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness by destroying all the Darkholds in the Multiverse. Wanda’s “death,” on the other hand, was unclear because her body was never located, which is a vital rule in superhero and comic book fiction. The ambiguity of her death opens the door for Olsen to return to the MCU as the Scarlet Witch.

While it’s clear that Marvel Studios intends to bring Wanda back in the future, Agatha: Coven of Chaos would be an excellent setting for the Scarlet Witch to reappear and announce that she’s still alive. On the other hand, as Agatha: Coven of Chaos is designed to fill out Hahn’s character following her arc in WandaVision, this could backfire and divert focus away from the show’s main character. Unless Olsen is lying about not appearing in a cameo appearance, it’s best not to expect to see Wanda for a long time to keep it a surprise. It wouldn’t be surprising if Marvel Studios hasn’t yet revealed how they want to reintroduce Olsen’s character after Scarlet Witch’s finale in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Time will tell if Olsen is indeed absent from Agatha: Coven of Chaos when it premieres on Disney+ in 2023.
