Reynolds Shares The Script Update And Filming Start Window For Deadpool 3
Marvel

Ryan Reynolds describes where Marvel is with their script for Deadpool 3 and when shooting might begin. Reynolds has worked to ensure that a faithful portrayal of Deadpool appears on the big screen after his disastrous portrayal of the character in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. His dream was realized in 2016 when his self-titled film, which thrilled audiences with its R-rated violence and humor, was released. Reynolds returned to the role of the Merc with a Mouth in the sequel Deadpool 2 and has since come to be regarded as the undisputed actor for the character.

Fans and viewers celebrated the possibility of finally seeing X-Men and Fantastic Four characters interact within the core Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. Deadpool 3 is the most significant Fox contribution to the upcoming MCU lineup to date. The film, which is being directed by Shawn Levy, a frequent Reynolds collaborator, will be Deadpool’s MCU debut and include Hugh Jackman’s long-awaited comeback as Wolverine. The current release date for Deadpool 3 is November 2024.

Reynolds now provides SiriusXM with an update on the status of Deadpool 3’s script and the start date for production. Since the movie has been in development for a while, there is a lot of curiosity about when it will go into production. Reynolds is upbeat about the production schedule for Deadpool 3, even though it is not imminent. He says:

“Yeah, well like I don’t take it for granted. I get to work with not one, but two of my closest friends in Shawn Levy and Hugh Jackman on that movie. And we are, quite literally, up to our necks right now in prep and still writing. I mean the writing process on ‘Deadpool’ movies doesn’t really end until they take the movie away from us. Literally, like they have to snatch the microphone out of my hand in the edit room… Production should start, hopefully some time just before summer. But the shooting is the short, easier part. Then it’s the lead-up, the prep, the writing. The shootings quick, then you have the edit process. That’s where the movie gets really made is the edit room.”

Fans Shouldn’t Worry About Reynolds’ Deadpool 3 Script Change

Reynolds is renowned for releasing numerous teases throughout his career and has long had ambitious plans for Deadpool. Since test footage of Reynolds as Deadpool leaked and stoked interest in the film, the actor hasn’t let his love of the role wain and has skillfully portrayed him as faithfully to the comics as is humanly possible. Reynolds’ ability to play with the character at first was constrained, but it is now obvious that he is deeply invested in where Deadpool is headed. Reynolds’ update is actually encouraging, despite some people’s concerns that Deadpool 3 is still being written.

It truly isn’t too unexpected that the script is still being worked on considering how soon filming will start. It takes time for this process, and Reynolds seems to be content with the direction it is currently taking. It’s actually a very good sign for the eagerly awaited movie that he is so determined to get the story right. When Deadpool 3 finally arrives in theaters, viewers can relax in the knowledge that it will be a blast thanks to the dependable team of Reynolds, Feige, and Levy.
