Lead actor of Better Call Saul Bob Odenkirk discusses the likelihood of Jimmy McGill and his ex-wife Kim Wexler reconciling after Jimmy McGill has served his prison term. After six seasons, the Breaking Bad prequel came to an end in August 2022, bringing the entire franchise to a close. The final four episodes, which were set after the events of Breaking Bad, featured Jimmy letting go of his past as Saul Goodman as he admitted to playing a crucial role in Walter White’s meth empire and receiving 86 years in prison. Kim from Rhea Seehorn, who divorced Jimmy before he committed himself to the Saul identity, attended his sentencing and paid him visits in jail.

In the February 2023 issue of Empire, Odenkirk was asked about Better Call Saul and whether Kim might be waiting for Jimmy after he receives a reduced sentence for good behavior. The majority of the show’s characters, according to Odenkirk, had a “very satisfying relationship,” and he acknowledged that Jimmy had given up his freedom in exchange for the burden that his actions as Saul had placed on him being lifted. The full quote from Odenkirk is as follows:

“I absolutely agree with you. I think that’s what goes on. And in a weird way, he’d have to count that as a very satisfying relationship to have had in his life. He traded his freedom for peace of mind and peace of heart, and I think that’s a fair trade, for sure.”

Will Saul Goodman Be Back?

Unfortunately for Breaking Bad fans, it appears highly unlikely that Saul will ever make a comeback. Jimmy will remain behind bars for the rest of his life, barring the potential for the reduced sentence Odenkirk mentions. Jimmy turned himself in because he no longer wanted to adopt the Saul persona, but Saul would have devised various plans to lighten his sentence or make his life more comfortable. But if viewers are to believe Odenkirk’s prediction, he will eventually end up getting back together with Kim, though it’s likely that will occur off-screen.

As of right now, Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul co-creator Vince Gilligan has no plans to develop any more works based in the universe. Even though viewers would like to see a Kim/Jimmy reunion down the road, there is not much room for subsequent stories since the three main characters, Walt, Jesse Pinkman, and Saul, have all finished their story arcs and the majority of other characters have already met their grisly ends.

What Will The Cast Of Better Call Saul Do Next?

Better Call Saul has come to an end, which allows the cast and crew to move on to new endeavors. The Odenkirk-starring film Nobody is getting a sequel, and the actor will return to AMC for the 2023 television series Straight Man, which is based on the same-named book. Seehorn, meanwhile, has been chosen to oversee Gilligan’s upcoming project, which he claims will depart from the antihero storytelling that has characterized the world of Breaking Bad. The Better Call Saul cast and crew, including Odenkirk, will be working with Seehorn on a variety of projects, according to her statements. Even though Jimmy and Kim might never work together again, viewers can at least anticipate more Odenkirk and Seehorn projects.
