Krysten Ritter recently shared some workout photos, leading fans of Jessica Jones to believe that she is also getting ready to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the same time as one of her coworkers. Ritter made her Marvel superhero debut in the eponymous Netflix series, the second of the streaming service’s MCU-themed programs after Daredevil season 1. In addition to appearing in the crossover miniseries The Defenders and being mentioned in Daredevil season 2 and Iron Fist season 1, the former Breaking Bad actor played the character throughout Jessica Jones’ three seasons.

Krysten Ritter shared some workout photos at a nearby gym, including using weights and the treadmill, in a now-deleted Instagram story from the actor, shared by Twitter user Demolidor Brasil. Ritter has since been spotted wearing a T-shirt that reads “I Choose Justice” and features the Daredevil logo, leading many to speculate that the Jessica Jones actress is getting ready for her MCU comeback. Jessica Jones’ MCU return has been rumored since this summer, when Charlie Cox was confirmed to be reprising his role as Matt Murdock/Daredevil for this year’s Disney+ series Echo, a Hawkeye spinoff in which Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin appeared. The casting report’s story details indicated that Cox’s blind attorney would be looking for an unspecified former friend, with a later report revealing that said ally was Ritter’s Jones. While no other Netflix characters have been confirmed to return as of this writing, Ritter has frequently expressed her desire to bring Jessica back to the screen, particularly following Cox’s return in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

If the reports of Matt looking for Jessica in Echo are true, it appears Ritter’s Jessica Jones will appear in next year’s Daredevil: Born Again. Given that filming on the Disney+ project is set to begin in February, Ritter getting back into hero shape now would make sense, giving her plenty of time to prepare for any action scenes to come from the show, whether they are flashbacks or present-day storylines. Little is known about the plot of Daredevil: Born Again, as Cox has teased that the show will not only not follow Frank Miller’s comic book plotline of the same name, but will be a “whole new thing” rather than season 4 of Netflix series.

Given that Hawkeye witnessed D’Onofrio’s Kingpin being released from prison without explanation between the Disney+ show & Daredevil season 3, Cox’s upcoming show could go a long way toward explaining where Ritter’s Jessica Jones has been since her show ended. With Cox’s Murdock seen as a practicing attorney in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, it may be as simple to reintroduce Jessica as an investigator on a case with Matt, or even one working against one of his clients. Only time will tell if Ritter’s Jessica Jones is planning a return when Echo airs later this year and Daredevil: Born Again debuts in early 2024.
